Recycling collection is our second most in-demand service. Every UK household is expected to recycle as much waste material as they can as part of a national effort to reduce landfill. Your recycling is the rubbish you put into your blue wheelie bin and the types of material we collect from this bin are known as dry-mixed recyclables.

Paper, cardboard, drinks cans, plastic bottles, and food tins can all be put into this bin as long as they are not contaminated with wet produce such as food. For us to be able to collect, you’ll need to clean off any food residue in the food tins for instance.

What CAN be put into your recycling collection bin:

  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Drinks cans
  • Plastic bottles
  • Food tins

What CAN’T be put into your recycling collection bin:

  • Black bags
  • Waxed paper cups
  • Food waste
  • Liquids
  • Polystyrene
  • Glass
  • Wood
  • Textiles

The UK recycling rate is currently at 45% – meaning that we recycle 45% of the total recyclable waste we produce. Whereas Germany, Austria, and South Korea are world-leaders when it comes to recycling household waste, recycling 60 – 70%.

Recycling is incredibly important and even a little goes a long way. For instance, recycling a single plastic bottle will save enough energy to power a lightbulb for 3+ hours and recycling a single aluminium can save enough energy to power an iPod for 20+ hours.

The UK government has been encouraging recycling now for a long time. As such dry-mixed recycling is, for many households, the second-biggest type of waste produced (second to general waste). This means that a lot of households need more frequent recycling collections because they fill up this bin regularly and weekly collections just aren’t enough.

That’s why our PBC customers love using our recycling collection service. If you choose our recycling collection service, we will use your current wheelie bin and collect on days/weeks which suit you.
